I have a 1983 Caprice. Recently there's been a strange creak coming
from my front left wheel area that only happens at certain times. I
think it the strut but I'm not sure. It creaks when there's more of a
side motion or when I'm getting out of my car. It also happens more
when it's hot and humid out. I tried spraying WD-40 on the spring but
I don't think it did anything.

I would like to get it fixed but I can't afford it and would like to
know if I can leave the creaking sound and nothing bad will happen.

Also, I paid $1000 for it and put over $1500 in it already and don't
want to put in anymore. It's a good car otherwise but the little
things are getting on my nerves.

Thanks.

Is it super noticable while your driving? I dont belive it would be the spring, maybe the upper or lower controll arm bushings are getting a little old. Perhapse trying to find where the upper arm meets and where the lower amr meets and try spraing them there. My car creeks too.. i have an 84, but the only time you hear it is when your like jumping on the front bumper making it move like 6 inches up and down with all your weight, and same with the rear. So best bet, find all the bushings, and maybe grease up all the lubrication points (there should be 12 or so.. can't remember off the top of my head) and maybe its a steering connection on that side. Do one thing at a time, and maybe once you find that one creek gone, watch it to make sure its not something worn/wearing out.

P.S.: I got mine for 200, but thats because they weanted to scrap it (there was nothing wrong with it) other then the fac that that it needed a nice fresh tank of gas, and a full tune up, as well as an engine bay cleaning. After i got it all cleaned up, passed air car (i live in Vancouver BC) so its a super clean once i did all that. I was the bright one to get a new intake, a semi agressive cam, and new lifters and pushrods for it. Ran awesome. The engine loved the cam, had power all the way up to 5,000 RPM when i made the shift into second or 3rd gear (it was an auto, but the vaccumm thing that changes the gears based on vaccumm was broken) so i have to move the thing from first to second to D to get it to shift right, and at the right rpm, with out band adjustment :p)
