Good day all,
I recently purchased a 1988 S10 Blazer 4X4 with a 2.8 TBI Engine and
5 Speed Tranny. I gave it a tune up: plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air &
fuel filters. Only 79K Miles for $800 bucks and it does great getting
me to work and back the past couple of months.
That said, I do have a couple of questions as I have never owned a
Blazer before. When in 5th gear there is a slight noise like air
escaping somewhere. I this normal? Indication of a problem? Also
when I have the headlights on, the Voltmeter for the battery drops and
the Fuel guage drops an 1/8 of a tank. Turn them off and the Fuel
guage goes right back up, and the voltmeter shows charging.
Lastly, the light on the floor indicating that you are in 4WD is
constantly on, although I don't have it in 4WD. Any suggestions?
I don't consider any of these things to be a major problem, only
minor annoyances. Nothing I couldn't live with on my 5 mile commute
to work. Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

ALL THESE PROBLEMS SOUND LIKE YOU HAVE A BAD GROUND SOMEWHERE. CHECK YOUR WIRES
AND MAKE SURE NONE OF THEM ARE TOUCHING, AND THEN CHECK WHERE THE GROUND ARE
ATTACHED TO YOUR FRAME. IF THERE'S RUST AT THOSE POINTS, YOU MIGHT WANT TO SAND
THEM DOWN TO BARE METAL
