Maybe stop into a big bookstore or public library and sneak a peek
into a Chilton or other manual, dash section...??? Just an idea, for
the general procedure of getting the things open... That's what I
would try first. Don't start butchering on plastic till you've got
some idea how to proceed. There's always a right way.

i woul grab it all. there are only minor things
that would have to be done to make it work in your
car. Tach would work fine as would the oil pressure
guage but remember to take the sensors off the motor
and the complete underhood/engine wiring harness.
without that stuff the dash would be nearly impossible to
wire up correctly. Bob

Not me, but I found a site selling Impala indiglo gauges. This is the
one without the tach.

Unfortunately, they don't have a gauge for most of us... owners of LS
models with tach. Only have a gauge for cars without tach.

I've sent them an e-mail asking if they plan on introducing an
Indiglo gauge for the LS/tach... I'll let you know what I find out.

well, thats cool for me, i got the base model, and i like the look of
the reverse indigo.. but one thing im confused about. is it
the "whole" gauge? or just and overlay? and anyone know how hard it
would be to change the whole gauge, if thats what it is? cause, if it
is, i might as well have shop do it, while they putting whole new
front end on.

Greg,

I had to have my guage cluster replaced. My dealer was able to transfer
the information fromthe old cluster to the new cluster. I do not know
if the cluster itself has an electronic memory feature, or if it is all
just part of the truck computer. I was under them impression it
was "moved over" though whatever that meant. My truck is a 2003 with
digital guages

When I first read the article in a magazine about them
changing the cluster in their project truck, they said
it had to be programmed. The ad for the cluster for my
truck says the mileage will be reset to zero. The
magazine probably had their cluster reset for free. A
nice plug for your business in a car magazine is worth
a lot.
When Chevy changed the dash for 2003, the odometer
memory may have been transferred to the truck
computer. That would be a better place to store the
information. That might keep some dishonest people
from being able to reset the odometer on a high
mileage vehicle, that still looked good, to a low
number.
The only negative to it being reset is if I decide to
sell it. I will have to state that it was replaced,
and does not show the correct mileage. I guess the
$450 for the new gauges is also a negative, but I have
had some time to think about that part.
Thanks, Greg.
